MSC’s CEO Soren Toft discusses successful Silverstream installation at DNV conference

In January 2022, MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company’s CEO Soren Toft spoke at the DNV Fuel of the Future conference, where he highlighted our successful partnership to install the Silverstream® System across MSC’s newbuild pipeline.

DNV’s conference set out to answer how the industry can use the power of collaboration to promote a more sustainable future. Despite a lot of discussion about future fuels and vessels, Soren explained that the existing global fleet needs to be more efficient, and that action is needed now to achieve this: “Yes, we need to develop future fuels that are net zero but, in parallel, we have to continue with energy efficiency measures, because the ships we have today will be in operation for years to come.”

Our collaboration with MSC has already confirmed that more than 30 vessels in MSC’s newbuild pipeline will be equipped with the Silverstream® System, and more will soon follow. Over the vessels’ lifecycles, a carbon emissions reduction of 1.6 million tonnes – equivalent to the annual emissions of 350,000 cars – could be achieved as a direct impact of having our air lubrication technology onboard.
