Luke De Freitas

Luke joined Silverstream in 2017 as the company’s third Technical Team appointment. Luke started his Silverstream journey as Naval Architect responsible for the engineering design, technical support, and data analysis for various newbuild and retrofit projects. In June 2018, he moved into the Operations Team as Project Engineer responsible for system delivery, commissioning and performance testing on several newbuild and retrofit installations. He now covers the role of Key Account Director for our Cruise segment.

In April 2021, Luke was promoted to Head of Delivery Unit for the retrofit segment where he reports to the VP of Operations. Luke now oversees the team of Project Engineers responsible for retrofit installations, from sales handover through installation, commissioning and sea trials, to customer delivery.

Prior to Silverstream, Luke worked at leading classification society, DNV GL. During his time there, he held the role of Marine Surveyor & Technical Service Manager in UK and European offices involved in multiple class/statutory surveys, dry-dockings and refit projects for the existing fleet-in-service. Before relocating to the UK in 2013, Luke also gained experience in the commercial ship repair industry while working at Caribbean Dockyard & Engineering Services Ltd in his home country of Trinidad & Tobago.

Luke is a Chartered Engineer with the Engineering Council and a member of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects. He holds an MSc in Naval Architecture, BEng from Southampton Solent University, and a Diploma in Ship Surveying from the Maritime Training Academy.
