David Connolly

David joined Silverstream in 2017 as Chief Technologist, to lead on innovation projects and to develop key strategic partnerships with external organisations including universities and research institutes. 

From a career spanning more than 30 years in the maritime industry, David brings a wealth of experience in delivering innovative technologies, transformation programmes, data management and performance analysis, ship design, ship construction, modification and repair. He has an extensive record in leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams in the most complex projects within the defence and commercial shipping sectors.

Previously, David was the Lead Principal Maritime Technologist at Shell Shipping & Maritime Technology, leading its drive for technology innovation in maritime operations. He has also held important positions at globally renowned companies including Marine Strategic Advisor at Shell International Exploration and Production, Senior Naval Architect at Agip KCO, Business Development Executive at Fleet Support Ltd., and Managing Director at BMT SHIPDESIGN Ltd. 

Sponsored by the UK Ministry of Defence, David graduated from University College London with a BSc in Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering. A Chartered Engineer, Fellow of RINA and Adjunct Professor at Southampton Marine & Maritime Institute, David has throughout his career demonstrated a flare for innovative thinking and solution delivery.
