Silverstream is working with a major cruise line for the retrofit installation of the Silverstream® System which entered operation in May 2017. The system was to be supplied within 20 weeks, including transit from Northern Europe to the shipyard in Asia. Following installation of the air release units and compressors during a 10 day dry dock, the system was completed and commissioned by a riding crew during normal operations, prior to handing over the system.

Case Study: New Build
The Norwegian Joy entered service in June 2017 following her build at the Meyer Werft yard in Pappenburg. Silverstream worked closely with the yard during the 2.5 year build programme to supply and install the Silverstream® System. The air release units were fabricated off- site then welded into the double hull and the compressors were supplied by Atlas Copco and linked to the Wärtsilä automation system. Silverstream was present during the sea trials to provide training and assistance to the crew prior to the handover of the vessel. The Norwegian Joy is the first cruise ship in the world to save fuel with the Silverstream® System.

Case Study: Retrofit
In partnership with Shell and Dannebrog Rederi/ WECO Tankers, the Silverstream® System was installed on the Amalienborg in just 14 days. Air release units were manufactured to order and welded into place during a standard dry docking by Fayard’s onsite engineers. Compressors were located in the bosun store and the automation system on the bridge. Both contractors and crew commented on the ease of installation and operation.
