Opportunity for a Hydrodynamicist to join the market leaders in clean marine technology.
The IR&D Hydrodynamicist will be responsible for successful delivery of projects dedicated to continuous improvement of the Silverstream® System. They will work on a portfolio of projects primarily aimed at increasing the efficiency of the technology with a focus on the hydrodynamic aspects of the technology. Specifically, the IR&D Hydrodynamicist will oversee and deliver projects associated with computational investigations inclusive of applying CFD to problem solve/analyse works, execution of experimental works relating to performance verification, URN, Cavitation and conduct of various Ship Trials.
Injection of hydrodynamics knowledge into IR&D team to aid in a common understanding of the technology drivers.
Delivery of assigned IR&D projects ensuing that they are concluded to time, cost, quality & expectations.
Engage with stakeholders to understand their requirements throughout the project.
Prepare Statements of Work and Requests for Quotation.
Plan and organise experimental works for integrated testing campaigns.
Create and maintain project schedules and action trackers
Coordinate resource demands to relay impact of the IR&D programme of works
Set, manage and execute sitework activities throughout project lifecycle
Conduct project reviews and prepare/present management reporting
Project risk management – anticipating, managing, and mitigating risks
Maintain, and manage relationships embedded both in assigned projects to assure delivery and develop new relationships through which to extend/conduct future research projects.
Prepare research proposals inclusive of securing quotations for third party support as applicable, including technical, commercial and pricing elements.
Maintain deep knowledge of current technology offering to understand challenges faced in integration at ship and delivery of performance improvements.
Deliver learnings and data derived from projects to the Performance Analyst. Work to understand both theoretical and actual impact on technology performance.
Attend and lead experiments, vessel surveys and sea trials as directed
Perform duties as requested by senior management from time to time • Attendance at supplier, partner and customer sites for meetings, testing etc.
Attendance at shipyards in support of the business as directed
Higher Degree in Naval Architecture, Hydrodynamics, or related science subject.
Chartered Engineering Status is desirable although not essential
A minimum of 3 - 5 years working in an engineering role in the marine industry with technical responsibility for delivering projects or equivalent role in Academia directly associated with hydrodynamic investigations (inclusive of undertaking PhD studies).
A clear and demonstratable understanding of research, development and/or continuous improvement within an engineering and/or science discipline
Experience relating to the oversight and verification of experimental works executed within a hydrodynamics facility is desirable although not essential
Experience relating to construct of technical and/or research proposals coordinating inputs from expert third parties
